You, the World and Social Impact
Updated: Oct 10, 2019
Word on the streets for business is that getting involved in social impact is probably one of the best - if not most important - thing they can do right now. The question you all ask at the board room table is: why? And that is exactly what we are here to answer.
The social impact revolution is here, and in case you haven’t noticed, it is here to stay. Things like hunger, climate crisis, gender equality, and basic human rights — to name a few — are heating up and catching the attention of the younger and even the older generations.
Now is the time to act, change, and capitalize on the movement(because face it, we are here for business, and business can benefit everyone if you follow this revolution). The U.N had posted 17 Sustainable Development Goals in 2015 and now, 62% of companies know, refer to and follow these religiously. If your company isn’t dedicating itself to making a social impact, no one will care about it within the next 5-10 years.
Forbes wrote an article titled, “Companies Will Be Forced To Embrace Social Impact - Or Fall Behind” and backed that up by including writings of, “ More and more studies are showing that the newest wave of potential talent heavily weigh the values and culture of a company that they may end up working for, and therefore companies will need to make this investment in order to recruit and retain the best talent available. As well, embracing social impact is key to engaging a growing number of customers and investors who care deeply about these issues. In an increasingly competitive business world, customers have countless options for almost any service or product you could imagine - and research shows that many will choose to buy from the companies whose values they most align with.”
That sounds like the entire world is shifting to a more positive way of life, and business should too.
